ITENERARY:

Lovers of elephants will find this safari utterly enchanting, with four days spent between Amboseli's Royal Court of Kilimanjaro and with the red elephants of Tsavo West National Park.

With both parks famous for their elephant populations, lovers of these gigantic mammals are in for a real treat. For everybody else, both parks offer sublime game-viewing and do so in two of the less crowded parks in the country.

If off the beaten track is your thing, the Red Elephant Safari is for you!

DAY 1 - NAIROBI - AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

You'll depart from Nairobi in the morning for the drive to Amboseli National Park. Your drive takes you across the Athi Plains, the ancestral home of the famous Maasai.

Upon arrival in Amboseli, you'll see why it is sometimes called the Royal Court of Kilimanjaro. The park offers the best views of Africa's highest mountain and is also home to large herds of free-roaming elephants.

You'll arrive in time for lunch at your lodge before embarking on a memorable sunset game drive through the park.

DAY 2 - AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK - TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

You'll wake before the dawn for an unparalleled view of Mount Kilimanjaro at sunrise. For those wanting to snap a picture of Africa's iconic elephant herds against the backdrop of the Tanzanian mountain, this is an opportunity not to be missed!

After returning to your lodge for breakfast, you'll depart for Tsavo West National Park - home to Kenya's famous 'red elephants'. So named for the volcanic red dust that they 'bathe' in, the elephants of Tsavo are something unique to Kenya.

In fact, 'unique' could very well be the perfect word to describe the twin parks of Tsavo West and Tsavo East. With their blend of volcanic terrain, palm-lined rivers, idyllic oases, and liquid lava, the park is like something out of fantasy.

A highlight of your visit to the park will undoubtedly be a visit to the Mzima Springs, where a partially submerged viewing chamber allows you to see the wallowing hippos like you've never seen them before.

DAY 3 - TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK - TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK

You'll take a picnic lunch with you as you depart this morning, with your destination being Tsavo West's sister park, Tsavo East. Every bit as beautiful as its neighbour, Tsavo East is the true home of the famous red elephants. You'll have the opportunity to see these distinctly coloured elephants bathing in the crystal clear waters of the Galana River.

More of the region's volcanic terrain is on display today as well, with landmarks such as the hump-backed Mudanda Rock, the eroded rocks of Lugard Falls, and the world's longest lava flow at Yatta Plateau.

All of this plus great game-viewing opportunities ought to make for an unforgettable safari experience.

DAY 4 - TSAVO EAST - NAIROBI

You'll end your safari with a morning game drive that is often called the 'Theatre of the Wild". Tsavo East turns on a real show in the morning light, and it will be a fitting end to your safari adventure. There will be ample opportunity to spot predators on the hunt and snap last minute photos.
Following breakfast, you'll return to Nairobi.
